Helping You Restore Function and Reduce Pain
At AdventHealth Rehabilitative Services, our therapy options include physical therapy for all ages, with a particular focus on patients who are 55 and older. Our goal is to help patients improve in multiple areas, including walking, balance, strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility.
Manual Therapy Techniques
Through the use of manual therapy techniques, our therapists use skilled hand and passive movements to work on soft tissue and joints. These movements are designed to increase your range of motion, reduce tissue swelling or restriction, improve tissue extensibility, and induce relaxation, among other benefits. These techniques also serve to minimize pain while enhancing wellness and physical function.
Therapeutic Exercise Modalities
One of the great things about physical therapy is that there are so many different ways to achieve improvement. Therapeutic exercise modalities used by our therapists as they treat patients include the following:
- Balance & coordination therapy
- Muscle performance for improved strength & endurance
- Range of motion exercises
- Breathing & relaxation techniques
A physical therapist will evaluate each patient on a case-by-case basis and determine which exercise modalities to prescribe. When you are being evaluated, be sure to share all of your symptoms. This will help your therapist determine and recommend the best exercises to correct the specific problems you’re experiencing.
Additional Physical Therapy Modalities
Our caring, compassionate physical therapists may opt to use one or more of several other healing modalities available. For example, they may use ultrasound to promote circulation and relieve pain, or they may apply electrical stimulation for the relief of muscle spasms. Moist heat may be applied to relax muscles.
All of our physical therapy services are performed with care and compassion—with the goal of helping you improve your physical condition. We regularly address issues affecting the back and neck, shoulders, hips, knees, and other regions. Our physical therapists are versed in specific women’s health issues, as well. We are happy to address concerns and answer any questions throughout your treatment. Request a physical therapy appointment with AdventHealth Rehabilitative Services today.
